TRIO STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

The federally funded TRIO Student Support Services program at Kellogg Community College provides advising and academic support to eligible students. Limited financial assistance may also be available to qualified participants.

To receive assistance, prospective TRIO Student Support Services students must verify eligibility by completing the TRIO Student Support Services Application.

TRIO Student Support Services Newsletters

Eligibility

    To qualify for TRIO Student Support Services assistance, students must exhibit academic need and one or more of the following:

    • First-generation college student
    • Low income
    • Disability

    Available Services

    • Academic tutoring in reading, writing, math, science, study skills and other subjects
    • Assistance in finding and selecting financial aid and in completing financial aid applications
    • Advising and assistance in course selection and applying/registering for classes
    • Academic, career, disability, financial and personal counseling
    • Mentoring
    • Transfer services and assistance

    About TRIO Student Support Services

    According to the U.S. Department of Education, which administers TRIO programming, the Student Support Services program “provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements and serves to motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education. The SSS program may also provide grants aid to current SSS participants who are receiving Federal Pell Grants. The goal of SSS is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants and to help students make the transition from one level of higher education to the next.”
