GRADUATION

To graduate from Kellogg Community College with a degree or certificate, students must have the correct program code in the KCC student information system. If the student’s program code of study is not listed, they should contact the Registrar’s Office at 269-965-5522 for assistance.

Students who wish to graduate must complete a graduation application through the Bruin Portal. Open graduation application periods are below.

Graduation Application Deadlines

  • Fall Semester Graduation: April 1–Dec. 1
  • Spring Semester Graduation: Sept. 1–March 1
  • Summer Semester Graduation: Jan. 1–July 1*

*Students applying for graduation in the summer who want to participate in the commencement ceremony held in May must apply for graduation by March 1.

All coursework must be completed by the end of the semester and final grades must be submitted in order for a student to graduate in that semester. A graduation application is considered incomplete if this does not occur, and incomplete applications will be moved to the next semester.

When a graduation application is complete, the Registrar’s Office will complete a review of the applicant’s academic record to determine if graduation requirements have been met. The applicant will be notified of the results via KCC email.

The graduation requirements of the academic catalog in effect the year the student started taking courses at KCC, or any later catalog, may be used to audit the applicant’s academic record for degree or certification completion. No academic catalog will be used which was issued more than five years prior to the student’s year of graduation.

Graduates will have the opportunity to order a printed diploma or certificate during the final graduation audit and will also receive information about participating in the KCC commencement ceremony held annually in May.

Students are encouraged to work closely with a KCC academic advisor to ensure that course selections fulfill program and curriculum requirements.

Graduating with Honors

Students who have fulfilled the requirements for an associate degree and have earned a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 or higher will graduate with honors as follows:

  • 3.90-4.00: Highest Honors (Summa Cum Laude)
  • 3.50-3.89: High Honors (Magna Cum Laude)
  • 3.00-3.49: Honors (Cum Laude)

The appropriate honors designation will be included on the student’s academic record and diploma.
