AI Usage for Scholarship Essay Writing
This process outlines the acceptable use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the scholarship essay writing process. While AI can provide valuable assistance, it is essential that students maintain the integrity of their personal voice and ideas.
Acceptable Use
- AI as a Support Tool
Students may use AI tools to: - Generate ideas or brainstorm topics related to their personal experiences and aspirations.
- Seek feedback on drafts, including suggestions for clarity, structure, and style.
- Enhance their writing through grammar and spell-check features.
- Original Thought and Expression
Students must ensure that their scholarship essays reflect their own thoughts, beliefs, and experiences. AI should not be used to: - Generate entire essays or significant portions of text.
- Replace personal reflection or authentic expression in the writing.
- Reflection of Personal Voice
Any content generated with the aid of AI should be thoroughly reviewed and rewritten in the student’s own voice. The final essay must accurately represent the student’s individuality, values, and unique perspectives.
