EMT C300 – Basic Life Support (BLS) – for Healthcare Providers

This program is designed for the healthcare provider including physicians, nurses, EMT/Paramedics, and other allied health programs. This course is approximately 4-5 hours and includes adult, child, and infant CPR, as well as use of the Automatic External Defibrillator and bag-valve-mask devices. Certification in this course is often a requirement of employment.

This course is currently offered twice a month, on Tuesday Nights and Saturday mornings during the fall and spring semesters, and Tuesday nights in the summer semester.

EMT C300 Course Registration: $65/student
2020 BLS Provider book: $21 new through the KCC Bruin Bookstore.

Note: the 2020 BLS Provider Manual as well as a pre-course packet is required for all on-campus course participants. These are both available in the Bruin Bookstore.

EMT C305 – BLS Certification Renewal

Completion of EMT C300 – AHA BLS Certification or EMT C310 – AHA BLS Heartcode will complete this requirement. We currently are not offering any stand-alone Certification Renewal courses.

EMT C310 – AHA BLS Heartcode

The AHA BLS Heartcode course is designed as a hybrid course to allow students to complete the majority of the training online, then complete the skills check-off in person.

Students must first purchase and complete the Heartcode BLS Training (AHA Product Number: 20-3553) available at shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode-bls. A copy of your certificate of completion must be brought with you to your skills check-off

Follow the the directions below to schedule your AHA BLS Heartcode:

STEP 1

Request Late Add for EMT-C310 for the corasponding semester.

As this is considered an open entry class (meaning you only come in for a brief time), you will need to complete a LATE Add if you are registering for this class after the Start Date for the course. You can do this online thought the Bruin Portal by logging in and completing the following:

• • • Click on the Academics drop down menu on the lest and select eforms. This will open up Etrieve CENTRAL
    • Click on the Forms menu and select Late Add.
    • Complete the information in the form.
    • Late Add resuests must be approved by the EMS Faculty Coordinator and may not be approved immediately. If you are having issues with this, please call the Registration office at 269-965-5522.

STEP 2 

Register for EMT-C310: BLS Heartcode – AHA BLS HCP Heartcode PR 

• • • Please NOTE: this is an open entry/open exit course, so the course date for registering is not the same as the time we have you scheduled. Your testing date and time is listed above. The cost for this course is $100.
    • If you have taken a course at KCC within the last year, you can register for the course through the bruin portal.
    • If not, you will need to complete a quick application to the college before you can register. Information on how to apply to the college is attached. Once you have applied, please reply to this email with your name and DOB or K-ID, so we can give you permission to register for the course.

STEP 3

Request BLS Heartcode Course (click here)

NOTE: You must bring a copy of your certificate of completion for the online portion to the test. You will not be allowed to test without it. If you have not yet completed the online portion, it is available here: https://shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode-bls

EMT C410 – AHA ACLS Heartcode

The AHA ACLS Heartcode course is designed as a hybrid course to allow students to complete the majority of the training online, then complete the skills check-off in person.

Students must first purchase and complete the Heartcode ACLS Training (AHA Product Number: 20-3554) available at shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode-acls. A copy of your certificate of completion must be brought with you to your skills check-off

Once completed, please complete the form below to request a course for your testing. A minimum of 2 weeks is required to schedule students for an individual course.

EMT C510 – AHA PALS Heartcode

The AHA PALS Heartcode course is designed as a hybrid course to allow students to complete the majority of the training online, then complete the skills check-off in person.

Students must first purchase and complete the Heartcode PALS Training (AHA Product Number: 20-3555) available at shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode-pals. A copy of your certificate of completion must be brought with you to your skills check-off

A minimum of 2 weeks is required to schedule a course. When completing the form below, we will contact you to set up a training date, and connect with an AHA Instructor aligned with our training center.

Courses can be completed in-person or in a hybrid online/in-person format.

The KCC Training Center also teaches the BLS, ACLS and PALS Instructor programs. These programs allow individuals to teach at these levels through a training center. All of these certification require that the individual to first have taken the initial BLS, ACLS or PALS provider program before being eligible to add the instructor endorsement.
