STUDENT FOOD PANTRY & BRUIN BASKETS
Many students struggle with food insecurity while trying to pursue their education. In partnership with the KCC Foundation and the South Michigan Food Bank, KCC has established the Bear Necessities Student Food Pantry to provide food and resources to students in need.
Location: Student Center, Suite 105 on the North Avenue campus
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday
Check-In Process
Each time you arrive, you will be asked to complete an intake form with a liability statement and required information to access the pantry.
Bear Necessities Student Food Pantry Intake Form
Once this form is submitted, you will receive a reusable tote bag that should be brought back for each visit.
The pantry is self-serve, so please take the items you need! We just ask that you limit the number of items taken to what fits in the tote bag provided. Pantry items include cereal, soup, pasta, rice, beans, canned fruits and vegetables and much more!
Bruin Baskets
The Bruin Basket initiative, which launched in June 2019, offers free grab-and-go snack options for anyone in the KCC community that may need a little something extra to get through the day.
There is no registration or intake process required to use a Bruin Basket; just take what you need and leave what you can (if you are able).
Bruin Baskets — which for the 2025-26 academic year are sponsored by Marshall Community Credit Union — are located on the College’s North Avenue campus in Battle Creek in the Miller Physical Education Building, Emory Morris Library, Whitmore lobby and Davidson Visual and Performing Arts Center. They are also located at the Regional Manufacturing Technology Center in Fort Custer Industrial Park, Eastern Academic Center in Albion, Grahl Center in Coldwater and Fehsenfeld Center in Hastings.
