
HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT
Kellogg Community College’s new Hospitality Management Certificate Program equips students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in the dynamic and rewarding field of hospitality and tourism management. The program is ideal for individuals who aspire to a career in hotels, restaurants, resorts, event planning, tourism or any other sector in the hospitality industry.
KCC’s Hospitality Management Certificate consists of five courses totaling 16 credit hours.
Required Hospitality Management Certificate program courses are:
- ACCO 101: General Accounting
- BUAD 101: Introduction to Business
- HOSP 101: Hospitality Management
- HOSP 102: Special Event Management
- HOSP 103: Customer Service Excellence

Hospitality Management Careers
Many students who pursue an certificate in Hospitality Management will continue their studies in an associate or bachelor’s degree program after transferring to a four-year college or university. Hospitality Management students who plan to move directly into the workforce can also benefit from the program’s valuable training, which will qualify them for a variety of entry-level positions in business.

Additional Hospitality Certifications
Upon completing KCC’s Hospitality Certificate or Associate of Applied Science in Business Management degree with a concentration in Hospitality Management, KCC graduates can obtain any of the following certificates to supplement their accomplishments.
- Certified Tourism Ambassador: A nationally recognized creditial obtained through the Calhoun County Visitors Bureau.
- Hospitality and Tourism Specialist: Students using the KCC’s Hospitality Management curriculum will be well prepared to take this exam from the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI).
- Guest Service Gold: One of the most widely used training and credential programs in the industry. Guest Service Gold prepares students to sit for the Certified Guest Service Professional exam.
- Guest Service Gold: Golden Opportunities: A certification specific to hotels and other lodging properties.
- Guest Service Gold: Tourism: Applicable to any business that participates in the tourism industry.
- START (Skills, Tasks, and Results Training): A collection of six flexible and concise trainings for key entry-level positions. Each training culminates in a certification exam and professional designation for the student. Certifications include:

- Certified Kitchen Cook
