Kellogg Community College’s Business programs provide a relevant curriculum that will prepare students for entry-level leadership positions or for transfer to relevant programs at four-year colleges or universities.

Associate in Applied Science in Business Management


Kellogg Community College’s Business Management Program provides a relevant curriculum that prepares students for entry-level leadership positions or for transfer to programs at four-year colleges or universities. The Business Management degree option is best suited for individuals willing to work their way up in an organization while applying skills from the program. Relevant soft skills gained from this program are communication, critical thinking and team building. Technical skills learned are financial, data and economic competence.

Business Management students at KCC will gain a better understanding of the various roles of managers and how their decisions impact their firms. Most courses in the Business Management Program are offered online as well as through traditional instruction in classes on campus.

Associate in Business Administration


Kellogg Community College’s Business Administration Program prepares students to enter the career of management and supervision. The program includes a rigorous curriculum of classroom and lab experiences that prepare the student for success in small or large businesses.

This degree program is aligned with the Michigan Transfer Agreement and is designed to meet pre-business course requirements for all business-related majors. These majors include accountancy, business analytics, business law, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, human resource management, supply management, management, marketing and sales. It is recommended that a student complete the entire associate degree in order to transfer to a four-year institution with junior standing.

Business Entrepreneurship Certificate

KCC’s 16-credit Business Entrepreneurship Certificate Program will develop the student’s entrepreneurial mindset and give them tools to identify and evaluate potential small business opportunities. It will prepare the student to effectively develop business plans and strategies for successfully launching a new business venture. The program is appropriate for students planning to start a small business, grow a business or planning to play a role in a growing business through the application of business best practices.

Business Management Certificate

KCC’s 23-credit Business Management Certificate is designed for individuals currently in the business field who, because of added responsibilities, realize a need to develop additional leadership, organization and communication skills.

Managerial personnel oversee, direct and plan the work of others, as well as determine business policy. Supervisors, the largest managerial group, direct the activities of workers in areas of sales, production and purchasing. Entry-level management positions are typically supervisory or trainee in nature. Some employers have indicated that Business Management graduates with specific skills such as accounting, marketing and human resources may have an employment advantage.

Many students who pursue an associate degree in Business Administration or Business Management will continue their studies in a bachelor’s degree program after transferring to a four-year college or university, and KCC’s degree option is designed to place graduates at a junior-level standing at their transfer institution. Business students who plan to move directly into the workforce can also benefit from the program’s valuable business training, which will qualify them for a variety of entry-level positions in business.
