TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIPS
Transfer scholarship applications will open on December 1 for students who are graduating from KCC with an Associate Degree in the 2024-2025 academic year (December, May or Summer) and plan to attend a four-year college or university within one or two semesters following KCC. The KCC Foundation offers the following scholarship opportunities for students graduating from KCC with an associate degree in 2024-2025 and transferring to a four-year institution:
- Barbara and William B. Comai Transfer Scholarship (one award)
- Lindsay B. Draime Two-Year Transfer Scholarship for Business Students (one award)
- Walter and Lucille Harper Transfer Scholarship (multiple awards)
- Virginia M. Hensley Education or Health Care Two-Year Transfer Scholarship (two awards)
- Robert F. Hites Family Scholarship (one award)
- Spanninga Family Scholarship with the Battle Creek Community Foundation (multiple awards)
The KCC Foundation also offers the following scholarship opportunity for students graduating from the Dental Hygiene Program:
- Danette Wilkins Memorial Scholarship (one award)
Application Process for the Comai, Draime, Harper, Hensley, Hites and Spanninga Transfer Scholarships
- Click the APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS button at the top of this page to complete the General Application first.
- Answer “yes” to the question indicating you are graduating with an associate degree from KCC in December, May or Summer and transferring to a four-year college or university within one or two semesters, to be eligible for a Transfer Scholarship.
- When finished filling out the general application, click submit at the bottom and make sure your application is complete.
- Sign in to kellogg.academicworks.com to see the Transfer Application opportunity. Answer a few more questions on this application, upload your college or university acceptance letter, and include one reference. You must complete this application as well as the general application to be considered for a Transfer Scholarship.
All scholarship applications are given equal consideration by a scholarship committee appointed by the KCC Foundation. Once the reviewing and awarding process concludes, award notifications will be emailed to students’ KCC email addresses. If you are awarded a transfer scholarship and are graduating in December or May, your award will be mailed to your chosen college/university in June. If you are awarded a transfer scholarship and are graduating in the summer, your award will be mailed to your chosen college/university in August.
Application Process for the Wilkins Memorial Scholarship
- Students in the second year of the Dental Hygiene program will receive a link to the application in early spring semester.
Barbara and William B. Comai Transfer Scholarship
The Barbara and William B. Comai Transfer Scholarship is awarded to a student who has obtained an associate degree from KCC in 2024-2025 and plans to attend an accredited four-year college or university in the state of Michigan in the same year of this scholarship application. The scholarship award may be used for tuition, fees, books, on-campus housing or other expenses that may prevent the recipient from attending college.
The recipient of the Comai Transfer Scholarship will receive up to $1,500 per semester for two consecutive semesters with a maximum amount of up to $6,000.
Applicants must:
- Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average at KCC.
- Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average for all post-secondary education credits.
- Reside in greater Battle Creek.
- Take at least 50% of post-secondary course work in-person/on-campus.
Draime Transfer Scholarship
The Lindsay B. Draime Two-Year Transfer Scholarship for Business Students recognizes outstanding academic and personal achievement and is awarded to a graduating Kellogg Community College student transferring to a baccalaureate degree granting institution of higher learning in the state of Michigan to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
The recipient of the Draime Transfer Scholarship will receive up to $5,000 for each of two years for a total of up to $10,000, provided they maintain eligibility.
Applicants must:
- Attend classes and graduate from KCC with an associate degree in the year of application submission
- Earn more than half of your credits at KCC
- Be transferring to a Michigan baccalaureate degree granting institution as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration
- Achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Demonstrate leadership experience, community and service activity and school involvement
- Provide an acceptance letter from the college to which you will transfer
- Submit the name of an individual to provide a reference for you. Please make sure you email or speak with your reference to let them know you are requesting a recommendation, including both the deadline and the specific scholarship(s) for which you are applying.
The chosen candidate must:
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during the time of the scholarship
- Remain a business student during the duration of the scholarship
Harper Transfer Scholarship
The Walter and Lucille Harper Transfer Scholarship recognizes outstanding academic and personal achievement and is awarded to graduating Kellogg Community College students transferring to a publicly-funded baccalaureate degree granting institution in the state of Michigan to obtain a bachelor’s degree. The donor of this scholarship hopes that each recipient will one day “pay it forward” to others.
Recipients of the Harper Transfer Scholarship will receive up to $7,000 for each of two years for a total of up to $14,000, provided they maintain eligibility (effective 2025-2026).
Applicants must:
- Attend classes and graduate from KCC with an associate degree in the year of application submission
- Earn more than half of your credits at KCC
- Be transferring to a publicly-funded baccalaureate degree granting institution in Michigan as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree
- Achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Demonstrate leadership experience, community and service activity and school involvement
- Provide an acceptance letter from the college to which you’ll transfer
- Submit the name of an individual to provide a reference for you. Please make sure you email or speak with your reference to let them know you are requesting a recommendation, including both the deadline and the specific scholarship(s) for which you are applying.
- Show evidence of financial need
Hensley Transfer Scholarship
The Virginia M. Hensley Education or Health Care Two-Year Transfer Scholarship recognizes outstanding academic and personal achievement and is awarded to two graduating Kellogg Community College students transferring to a public college or university in Michigan. Recipients must have graduated high school within the last three years and be seeking a bachelor’s degree in an area of education or health care.
All scholarship applications are given equal consideration by a scholarship committee appointed by the KCC Foundation. At the completion of the review process, the committee will select Hensley Transfer finalists to appear for a personal interview before a final determination is made on scholarship awards.
Recipients of the Hensley Transfer Scholarship will receive up to $10,000 for each of two years for a total of up to $20,000, provided they maintain eligibility. One scholarship will be awarded in Education and the remaining scholarship awarded in Health Care.
Applicants must:
- Attend classes and graduate from KCC with an associate degree in the year of application submission
- Earn more than half of your credits at KCC
- Be transferring to one of the following publicly-funded baccalaureate degree granting institution as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree:
- Central Michigan University
- Eastern Michigan University
- Ferris State University
- Grand Valley State University
- Lake Superior State University
- Michigan State University
- Michigan Technological University
- Northern Michigan University
- Oakland University
- Saginaw Valley State University
- University of Michigan
- Wayne State University
- Western Michigan University
- Be majoring in an education or health care field
- Achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Have graduated high school within the last three years
- Demonstrate leadership experience, community and service activity and school involvement
- Provide an acceptance letter from the college to which you will transfer
- Submit the name of an individual to provide a reference for you. Please make sure you email or speak with your reference to let them know you are requesting a recommendation, including both the deadline and the specific scholarship(s) for which you are applying.
The chosen candidates must:
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during the time of the scholarship
- Remain a full-time student in education or health care during the duration of the scholarship
Hites Transfer Scholarship
The Robert F. Hites Family Scholarship recognizes outstanding academic and personal achievement and is awarded to graduating Kellogg Community College students transferring to a baccalaureate degree granting institution seeking a bachelor’s degree.
The recipient of the Hites Transfer Scholarship will receive up to $3,000 for each of two years for a total of up to $6,000, provided they maintain eligibility.
Applicants must:
- Attend classes and graduate from KCC with an associate degree in the year of application submission
- Earn more than half of your credits at KCC
- Be transferring to a baccalaureate degree granting institution as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree
- Achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Demonstrate leadership experience, community and service activity and school involvement
- Provide an acceptance letter from the college to which you will transfer
- Submit the name of an individual to provide a reference for you. Please make sure you email or speak with your reference to let them know you are requesting a recommendation, including both the deadline and the specific scholarship(s) for which you are applying.
The chosen candidate must:
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher during the time of the scholarship
- Remain a full-time student during the duration of the scholarship
Danette Wilkins Memorial Scholarship
The Danette Wilkins Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating Dental Hygiene student to help offset the cost of their Dental Hygiene Board Exam.
Applicants must:
- Be graduating from the KCC Dental Hygiene Program in the year of application submission
- Submit the name of an individual to provide a reference for you. Please make sure you email or speak with your reference to let them know you are requesting a recommendation, including both the deadline and the specific scholarship(s) for which you are applying.
- Demonstrate financial need
Please note: The chosen candidate must successfully pass their Dental Hygiene Board Exam in order to receive the scholarship.
